Creatives can help each other become famous using this NYC startup

Creative types are typically inventive, frugal and eager to share their work — and social media outlets provide unlimited access to expansive audiences. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram have replaced music flyers and gallery spaces as the struggling artists’ go-to marketing tool. 

 is aiming to add collaboration to this equation.

CoPromote is a free co-marketing platform that helps creators boost their ever-important social shares to new audiences on Twitter, Tumblr, Vine or YouTube.The platform works as a real time social media exchange for creators, and enables artists to expand their marketing reach beyond a one-fan-at-a-time model. In today’s social media landscape, where one viral post has the potential to elevate a person’s career, CoPromote is a creative professional’s dream come true.  

CoPromote’s platform prompts users to select a post they want boosted by other members of the creative community. This selected post is then automatically filtered to CoPromote’s 800,000-person creator network, urging them to cross-promote the content.

When a creator cross-promotes an item, they gain points toward boosting their own posts in the CoPromote network. Members who cross-promote another user’s work do not have to reciprocate. The platform is free to use, but it also has a number of premium services available at an additional cost.

The startup was founded by serial Internet entrepreneur, Michael More, and Christopher Lee. 

“I saw that one thing missing for creators was a piece of marketing technology, so they resorted to collaborations,” said More. "We thought it’d be much easier if there was a piece of software that allows creators to market themselves to like-minded individuals.”

The company originally launched under the name Headliner.FM and was specifically targeted towards musicians. They then pivoted to include more verticals, and it's now popular among fashion and beauty creators, health and fitness experts, DJs, musicians, authors, bloggers, designers, filmmakers, photographers, journalists and small business artisans.

While more creators than ever are coming online to seek effective social channels, the company is growing quickly in conjunction with this network. In January 2015, the content on the platform reached 300 million people. This month, CoPromote reached over 1.6 billion people.

Looking to 2017, CoPromote plans to partner with more brands and agencies, add new platforms to its arsenal, and expand into India and the United Kingdom.
