It's not all sales and engineering: 7 tech companies looking for creative-types

Ok, so you may not think of yourself as a traditional tech geek. Maybe you're not a coding genius, and you have no idea what "full stack" means. That does not preclude you from getting an awesome job at a swanky tech startup. You too can enjoy the perks, cool office spaces and high-paced environment of the startup lifestyle. Here are seven NYC tech companies hungry for non-technical, creative talent. 

 

Designer at Tinybop

Who they’re looking for: A mid-level designer with 2-3 years of experience and some strong design-opinions. 

What you’d do: You’ll be leading their print and interactive projects. 

What they do: Tinybop makes apps engineered for children. They do a lot of storytelling and teaching through interaction.

 

 

 

Content Designer at Splash

Who they’re looking for: A graphic designer with at least 12 years of experience and a degree in Graphic Design. 

What you’d do: You’ll be working with Splash’s content design team to make their theme-library awesome. That means creating web templates that are scalable and beautiful.

What they do: Splash builds software for people who put on big events. They work with companies like Mercedes Benz, GoPro, Nike, the NBA, etc.

 

 

Creative Director at Movable Ink

Who they’re looking for: They’re looking for someone who knows what they’re doing. They want someone who thinks of themselves as a people-focused visual experience designer with experience being the creative force behind a brand. You’d probably also be advised to read the Wikipedia entry on Otl Aicher

What you’d do: Over the first year, you’ll hit the refresh button on the Movable Ink brand. That means across the board — from their marketing site to their sales materials. 

What they do: Movable Ink is a pioneer in the application of contextual experiences in email. That means that you can now send an email with personalized, live content.

 

 

Copywriting Internship at FanDuel

Who they’re looking for: Someone looking to get their foot-in-the-door in a copywriting/marketing role. You should have some work under your belt, and they’re cool with student work. 

What you’d do: You’ll be brainstorming social media posts, working with the email team and executing social campaigns. 

What they do: FanDuel is a huge daily fantasy site. 

 

Product Marketing Designer at BuzzFeed

Who they’re looking for: They’re looking for a mid-level designer with two to four years of experience. 

What you’d do: You’ll be making eye-catching visual elements for their marketing team. 

What they do: BuzzFeed is the news gone viral. And cats.

 

Visual Designer at Whistle Sports

Who they’re looking for: They’re looking for a junior visual designer to fill a freelance to permanent role. Ideally, you’ll have two years of design experience working with branding a mobile application.

What you’d do: You’ll work with their design team creating visual collateral for the company.

What they do: Whistle Sports is a multimedia sports site designed for kids and teens. 

 

 

Digital Media Assistant at Giphy

Who they’re looking for: They want a detail oriented, organized lover of all things GIF. 

What you’d do: You’ll be turning things into GIFs — that means TV, movies, images, etc. 

What they do: Giphy is a massive, and incredibly popular, search engine for GIFs.
