The Made in NY Media Center by IFP is a unique coworking space that was founded in 2013 as a result of a partnership between the Independent Filmmaker Project (IFP), the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment and the New York City Economic Development Corporation.

Mayor Bloomberg publicly opened the Media Center three years ago, and since then, it has held more than 100 classes, 300 events and served more than 25,000 people. In its 20,000 square foot space in DUMBO, Brooklyn, The Media Center brings together innovators in technology, art, film, video, and gaming.

This week the Made in NY Media Center officially launched ClassWork, a set of personalized courses designed for entrepreneurs, innovators, and experience-seekers to merge creativity with business. The mission behind ClassWork is to give anyone who wants to tap this community for creative and entrepreneurial pursuits the opportunity to do so through one-off classes or with monthly class memberships.

In the same vein as professional advancement schools such as General Assembly, ClassWork is designed to help students navigate the modern economy. The program is launching with a slew of course offerings, ranging from 'Introduction to Design Thinking' to 'Project Management for Entrepreneurs.' You can find the full course schedule here.

"The launch of ClassWork is the next step in our commitment in being a hub for aspiring entrepreneurs in media, creativity and technology," said Joana Vicente, Executive Director of the Made in NY Media Center by IFP in a statement. "These classes will give anyone with an early stage business idea the tools to enable them to shepherd their concept to execution. ClassWork complements our existing offerings focused on empowering creative entrepreneurs in their careers."
