5 tech companies that give their employees summer perks

There’s nothing quite like summer in New York. After a long winter spent indoors, city dwellers flock to newly opened rooftop bars and Central Park, soaking in as much warmth as possible. As such, it can be difficult to endure the summer taking place outside from behind the glass of a Manhattan office building. Here are five local tech companies that recognize that, and give their employees seasonal perks that help make their summers in New York even better.

What they do: Namely is an all-in-one platform for cloud-based HR software. The company works with middle-market companies, meaning small to medium-size business with 50 to 2,000 employees, to provide a one-stop-shop for HR, payroll and benefits.

Summer perk: Namely organizes company-wide field days and leagues, encouraging its employees to get outside during the summer months. Other employee perks include an in-office library and arcade, full health benefits, up to $1,500 of professional development per year and company equity.

What they do: Buzzfeed is one of the most widely recognized digital media brands in the world, bringing people news and features across mobile apps, Facebook, Snapchat, YouTube and other digital platforms.

Summer perk: BuzzFeed offers a summer film series, as well as a number of other all-season perks. The media company provides stock options, catered lunch twice a week and hack weeks for its engineers, as well as bagels on Fridays.

What they do: Docurated uses artificial intelligence to help unravel the data behind content and connect readers with relevant information. The company’s content graph and algorithm maps relationships between people and information, driving precise customer interactions.

Summer perk: Docurated offers a pretty great summer perk — access to a company summer house in the Hamptons. The company also gives its employees full health benefits, a Mac or PC, free breakfast and lunch, and a Chelsea Piers gym membership.

What they do: Justworks is a benefits and payroll company that provides a seamless payroll experience, affordable benefits and comprehensive compliance coverage all in one product.

Summer perk: Justworks takes its employees on company-wide retreats, and it springs for a Citi Bike membership so workers can remain outside on their commute. The company also offers unlimited PTO, full medical coverage, a discounted gym membership and a dog-friendly office.

What they do: Integral Ad Science makes verification, optimization and analytics products for the advertising industry.

Summer perk: Integral Ad Science offers summer Fridays, along with a slew of other perks, which include 401K matching, weekly catered lunches, stock options and quarterly team events.
