Some of New York City’s fastest growing, innovative tech companies are kicking up their hiring efforts. Here are five tech companies on the hunt for new talent this month.

 

What they do: With an engaged community of more than five million active subscribers, theSkimm is changing the way female millennials consume news and information. The company originally gained traction through its daily newsletter, the Daily Skimm, and has since expanded to include an app, video content and Skimm Studies, which is a marketing tool used for brands.

Coolest perks: Weekly Sip n’ Skimms (provided lunch where the team eats together and shares the week’s highs and lows, hackathons, team karaoke, Skimm’cademy (a bootcamp on the company and team), fully stocked kitchen, 401(k), flexible vacation policy, medical benefits and social events that run the gamut from field day to movie night to volunteering to holiday parties.

As such, the company typically looks for intellectually curious people who want to inspire others to change the world.

What they do: Warby Parker is an innovator when it comes to eyewear, offering an online platform for prescription eyeglasses and sunglasses. The company’s larger mission is to offer designer eyewear at an affordable price, which it does for $95 per pair. Since launching in 2010, the company's direct-to-consumer business has seen exponential growth, scoring a $1.2 billion valuation in 2015, when it joined New York's club of unicorns.
