7 tech events that will start your spring off on the right foot

General Assembly’s #OffCampus NYC, All Week

This week-long event celebrates all things new in entrepreneurship, design and culture through daily themed events. Monday is all about entrepreneurship, Tuesday about design, Wednesday about tech, Thursday about hiring, and Friday, of course, is all about culture. Pretty sweet.

HackerNest NYC Tech Social, March 21st at 8 p.m.

HackerNest Tech Socials are an informal, monthly gathering of techies that hang out and try and break code. This is kind of an ‘unevent,’ in the sense that there’s nothing really planned for the evening — you just show up, grab a free beer and hang out.

Build An Allstar Startup Team on a Bus, March 22nd at 6 p.m.

This is a targeted networking event that takes place on a three hour bus ride around Manhattan. Basically, you get on a bus in Midtown, ride it all over the city, while discussing how to build an Allstar startup team. Sounds weird, right? It also sounds kind of awesome...

ERA Summer Happy Hour, March 22nd at 6:30 p.m.

Sure, it’s not summer yet, but don’t tell the people at ERA, cause they’re paying for beer! ERA is looking for startups to join their 2016 summer accelerator class, and are inviting cool startups to join them for beer and networking. This is an awesome opportunity to meet ERA’s team, some companies that graduated from the program and their mentors.

The VR/AR Association NYC Event, March 22nd at 7 p.m.

Whether you’re ready or not, virtual reality is about to change the way we do everything. This event features a panel of speakers and demos of some of the best virtual reality and augmented reality brands in the city. Don't worry, virtual reality is way better than real reality.

Tech Jobs at Nonprofits - A Roundtable, March 23rd at 6:15 p.m.

NY Career Meetup is hosting a roundtable about how to get your foot in the door of a nonprofit. If you want to use your techie powers for good, this panel will fill you in on the important details. They’ll let you know the sort of salary you should expect, as well as explain a little bit about nonprofit culture, trends and job opportunities.

Columbia University Startup Career Fair, March 25th at 12 p.m.

Columbia University’s Center for Career Education is holding their fifth annual Startup Career Fair. The organizers expect around 70 startups looking to hire to show up, as well as several hundred Columbia undergraduate and graduate students. Dress is business casual, and you should probably bring along a resume.

That's it for this week. Check our events page for a full listing of NYC tech's hottest events and happenings.
