Giphy raises $55M, valued at $300M

Giphy announced they have raised a $55 million Series C this week. The new funding values the ‘Google of Gifs’ at $300 million. The round was led by Lightspeed Ventures, with General Catalyst Partners, RRE, Betaworks, Lerer Hippeau Ventures, CAA and some of Giphy’s early investors participating.  [Giphy Closes $55 Million Series C At A $300 Million Post-Money Valuation, TechCrunch]

 

Vive raises $2.3M seed round

Vive announced they have raised a $2.3 million seed round. The company is kind of like Classpass for getting your hair done. The funding came from Deep Fork Capital, Y Combinator, Crunchfund, Ludlow Ventures, Vayner RSE, Maven, Expansion Capital, T5 Capital, Kosinski Ventures, Haystack Fund, and angel investors Pascal Levy-Garboua, Paul Buchheit and Scooter Braun’s SB Projects. Pratt exhibit showcases fashion and tech

The Pratt Institute is celebrating fashion and technology with an exhibit called ‘Coded_Couture,’ which opened last week. The exhibit features experiments with fashion that have been inspired by code. The show runs through April 30th. Turns out the hoodie is not going to be tech's only contribution to the fashion world. A Viber Cofounder Is Taking On On Uber

Talon Marco, a cofounder and the CEO of Viber, is taking on Uber with a new startup called Juno. The company, which is operating in stealth mode, is aiming to differentiate itself from Uber by treating drivers better. The company said they will only take a 10 percent commission, and they have ‘reserved’ 50% of their founding shares for drivers. Fireglass raises $20M Series A

The cyber security startup Fireglass announced they have raised $20 million in their first round of funding. The funding came from  Lightspeed Venture Partners, Norwest Venture Partners, Singtel Innov8 and co-founder of Imperva and Trusteer Mickey Boodaei and Rakesh Loonkar. Zocdoc rebrands with a new logo

Zocdoc, one of the highest valued startups in New York City, has a new logo that they’ve named ‘Zee.’ The company’s old logo apparently cost the cofounders just $80 back in 2007, and we're guessing that this one cost a good bit more.
