NYC tech companies raise $127.5M in 7 days

This was a major week for tech startups in NYC across many different industries — telehealthcare, fintech and hospitality, to name a few. The top funding rounds totaled $127.5 million, and AbleTo, ElleVest and ALICE were some of the major contenders. [Built In NYC]

 

WeWork receives a $4.4B investment from SoftBank

No stranger to large sums of money, WeWork received a hefty investment from Japanese telecommunications company SoftBank. The move helps strengthen their existing partnership and aids its expansion efforts in Asia. [TechCrunch]

 

Former Twitter executive joins Outcome Health as Chief Engineering Officer

Health intelligence company Outcome Health welcomed a new Chief Engineering Officer to the team. Nandini Ramani, previously VP of Engineering at Twitter, will be responsible for strengthening the company’s technology platform. The startup noted Ramani’s strong experience in business leadership, engineering and global expansion makes her a valuable addition to the team. [Press release]

 

Splashlight announces new Vice President of Creative

Content creation startup Splashlight announced a new executive hire. Robyn Dutra joins the team as vice president of creative after more than 15 years of advertising and editorial experience. She most recently managed creative teams at Saatchi & Saatchi during her time as their global creative director. [Press release]

 

MetaProp NYC announces 2017 lineup of real estate startups

Eight real estate startups will participate in MetaProp NYC’s third annual startup accelerator and focus on ways technology can play a role in green buildings, parking and apartment entry. Participants receive up to $250,000 in funding, as well as office space and guidance. [TechCrunch]

 

Telehealth startup Candid launches in NYC

Candid launched in NYC this week to make orthodontist-directed clear aligners more accessible. The company was founded by former employees at companies like Lyft, WeWork and BCG, and aims to provide people with straighter smiles in a more convenient, affordable way. [Press release]
