Amazon completes deal for large Staten Island warehouse

E-commerce giant Amazon is opening up a new compound of warehouses in Staten Island. This is the first fulfillment center the company is building in NYC. It will be 855,000-square-foot in size and will create more than 2,250 jobs. [Press release]

 

ALICE Announces Acquisition of GoConcierge

Hotel operations platform ALICE recently announced it’s acquiring concierge software GoConcierge, a big name in the lodging industry. This comes just days after ALICE announced a $26 million Series B funding round. The acquisition will help further position the company as a leader in the hospitality industry. [Press release]

 

Data startup raises $28M, plans to grow NYC team

Data science platform Dataiku announced a $28 million Series B funding round led by Battery Ventures. The company has seen rapid growth recently — it raised $14 million in a Series A round of funding in October and opened its NYC location in July. The recent funding will help grow the local team. Via announces $50M funding — with more on the way

Ridesharing app Via announced a $50 million investment in the form of a strategic partnership with the vans division of Mercedes-Benz to help launch Via in London. According to TechCrunch, the deal is part of a larger funding round totaling $250 million. [Built In NYC]

 

ERA is now accepting applications for Winter 2018 program

The Entrepreneurs Roundtable Accelerator (ERA) is now accepting applications for Winter 2018. The four-month program connects entrepreneurs with more than 300 expert investors, technologists, product specialists, marketers across many different industries. New York City to Host First VR / AR Expo

New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) and Emerald Expositions have put together a Virtual Reality/Augmented Reality (VR/AR) conference in NYC. The three-day event will highlight some of the newest, most innovative technologies in the space. The conference and expo will be hosted at the Jacob Javits Center from Oct. 26-28.
