The Company

Gimlet media tells stories through audio. Our roster of podcasts includes newly-launched, critically-acclaimed shows like Homecoming, Heavyweight, and Science Vs. We’re also home to perennial favorites Reply All and StartUp. We are looking for ambitious, curious, talented, and kind people to join our team.

We come from diverse backgrounds, brought together by the desire to make amazing things, and a shared belief in working hard, embracing creativity, and supporting one another. At Gimlet, good ideas matter more than titles. People who tackle problems with creative solutions, and who love the energy of a collaborative, team-oriented creative process thrive here.

The Job

We’re looking for a smart, collaborative, detail-oriented Analyst, Finance & Accounting to join our BizOps team here at Gimlet. You will lead the bookkeeping efforts for the entire organization, but will also be given significant opportunities to contribute beyond the core accounting function. You should be an expert on the accounting basics, but also have the skills and appetite to help the VP of Finance shape the broader financial operations (processes, people, systems) of Gimlet and assist with a number of FP&A and ancillary tasks. You should be excited about joining a fast-growing startup environment, and ideally love podcasts as much as we do.

Working with the VP of Finance, you'll serve as a core member of the financial operations team at Gimlet, with the opportunity to grow with the business into a Controller-level role. In short: you speak accounting fluently, but you love to solve complex, analytical problems.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage execution of weekly and monthly financial close processes, including reconciliation, invoicing, and preparation of Quickbooks financial statements
  • Lead the processing and accounting for all payables and receivables, using bill.com and Quickbooks
  • Assist with a variety of FP&A tasks including budgeting and forecasting
  • Help prepare financial analysis and operational reporting to executive team
  • Master the financials of Gimlet, and proactively look for both errors as well as opportunities to improve financial performance
  • Identify ways to continually automate, tighten, accelerate, and otherwise improve financial operations processes
  • Work with the VP of Finance to build the future roadmap for the financial operations of Gimlet

What You Have

  • Real-world bookkeeping experience either in-house, freelancing, or at an accounting firm
  • College-level accounting degree and deep understanding of GAAP practices
  • Expert in Quickbooks, comfort with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Highly detail oriented, and thoughtfully able to spot trends and aberrations
  • Passionate consumer of podcasts
  • Positive, proactive, and collaborative team player
