The Overview
It's an exciting time to be building an app for discovering and attending live events. We think going to live events is a source of real human happiness—and we want to make it easier.
SeatGeek launched on Android in November of 2013. We've come a long way since that release.
- We started using RxJava as early adopters on Android
- We brought in Dagger for dependency injection. Then, we replaced it two years later with Dagger 2
- We added the ability to save events and track performers
- We made it simple to buy, transfer, and sell tickets
- We rebranded, and went 100% material design
- We added a fun feature for discovering events based on the music you're currently listening to
Mobile is a huge focus for us. Our Android app already has over a million downloads. We're building something that's purposefully, willfully for Android, through and through. We want to define sports and music on the platform, and we're hoping you can help.
- Working on major components and new features of the SeatGeek Android app
- Working with the SeatGeek design & product folks to build an experience that stands out among the best Android interfaces
- Working with components such as Dagger and RxJava
- Building key architectural pieces to make development more efficient, fun, and pragmatic
- Helping us modularize our application, making different aspects of the app isolated, tested, and reusable—both within the SeatGeek app and within other apps on the Play Store
- Iterating on and testing new variants of features to ensure we're delivering the best experience to users, based on actual usage
What We're Looking For
- Someone who cares about building experiences that are used and loved by millions
- Someone with a passion for trying and building innovative things
- Someone with prior Android experience (2+ years) and app(s) in the Google Play Store
- Someone with a passion for live events, regardless of if it's concerts, theater, sports, or all of them
- Someone who—ideally—has some (or masterful) experience with RxJava+Android
