We are seeking a dedicated and reliable auctions administrator to join our Auctions Team. Reporting directly to the client services manager, you will be responsible for promoting both the artnet and artnet Auctions & Private Sales brand through fostering positive client relations. As auctions administrator, you will communicate with both buyers and sellers, as well as shipping partners and vendors, applying an excellent understanding of department processes and procedures, in addition to the website’s features and functionalities. The ideal candidate will have a proactive attitude and a willingness to work on various projects in other departments. You will be working from our New York office, located in the historic Woolworth Building, as artnet leads the way in the growing art industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Field all telephone, email, and web inquiries within a timely manner
  • Assist clients with login, transaction and billing issues, as well as website user experience
  • Provide superior customer support to current and prospective clients
  • Assist with collection of funds by closely monitoring payments and sending copies of invoices to clients
  • Update client accounts in our Client Management System (Salesforce & Microsoft Dynamics)
  • Work closely with the Finance Team to provide relevant information and billing reports
  • Oversee transport of sold lots, liaise with art shipping companies, and provide logistical support to domestic and international clients
  • Maintain inventory lists and artwork documentation
  • Obtain shipping quotes and facilitate artwork collection and delivery procedures
  • Communicate with buyers and sellers to resolve various issues and encourage strong client relationships
  • Apply discrete management of client inquiries, either independently or with the client services manager

Qualifications:

  • BA in art history, English, or a related field
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines
  • Excellent judgment and professional work ethic
  • Highly organized with strong time management skills
  • Tech-savvy with working knowledge of Excel and Salesforce preferred
  • Shipping or logistics experience preferred
  • Knowledge of contemporary art market preferred
  • Works well in a fast-paced and collaborative environment
