Thrillist is looking for an Associate Director of Development to work directly with the Director of Development and senior leadership toward our efforts in new video series programming for everything from social video platforms to linear television. The right person will understand what audiences of all kinds want, be skilled at communication, managing the organization of ideas, and fleshing them out for pitch as well at the same time as overflowing with fantastic ideas and the ability to express them. Guiding the production of those ideas as pilot is essential as well.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with our video and editorial team to gather, organize, and assess an abundance of ideas for various destinations: YouTube, an ever-evolving FB, Snap, emerging platforms, streaming services, linear TV, etc.
  • Research the appropriate platforms and discerning the formula for success on each, working on our concepts through that lens - you will have company resources to do this
  • Keeping an eye toward the production logistics of each pitched series and keeping expectations in order
  • Ensuring our vetted projects are circulated to each of the necessary internal departments and maintaining the proper feedback loop
  • Relationship building with Development & Sales to get our Editorial video efforts funded
  • Operationalizing a sizzle / promo reel process, coordinating the right stakeholders and overseeing them when needed
  • Properly culling, curating, and organizing the materials for presentation to any departments and outside pitch partners - growing toward creating that pitch
  • With the Director of Development and Head of Video, establish a Development process that can accommodate producers, administrators, and future Development colleagues
  • Care about things, a lot

Requirements:

  • 3 years experience developing series concepts for digital and/or linear video applications
  • 5+ years producing video of all kinds
  • Be a producer: leader who is comfortable working with editors, shooters, audio technicians, scriptwriters, DPs, gaffers, and 60 other video production skillsets all rolled into one
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage many projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • A passionate knowledge of the food, travel, and entertainment worlds that will never approach snobbery
  • The ability and desire to get better so welcoming of constructive criticism and self-assessments
