ABOUT THE TEAM AND ROLE

theSkimm makes it easier to be smarter. We started as two friends on a couch and have since purchased more couches and gotten new friends, er... employees. Skimm HQ works hard but knows when to take breaks and when it's time to update the Spotify playlist. We drink the kool-aid but know we're drinking it. Through our suite of products, we are disrupting routines and information consumption one Skimm'r at a time. Come join us, we're changing things.

The sales team at theSkimm is a small group of experienced, resourceful, scrappy hustlers. We pull out all of the stops to get sh*t done. We’re seeking an energetic, rockstar seller who is ready to jump in, think outside of the box, and get creative with marketing campaigns. theSkimm is for high performers who thrive off of seeing direct impact and response to their work.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

This is not a typical sales role. We work hard to understand the message that the brand wants to get across and from there, develop creative and timely native campaigns. You must be creative to come up with thoughtful pitches. You must be an enthusiastic seller to close them.

  • Prospect, sell and manage media fee-based sponsorships
  • Create programs and marketing plans that include, but are not limited to: native digital content & event sponsorships
  • Close, close, close (and obviously negotiate)

WHAT WILL SET YOU UP FOR SUCCESS

  • Agency sales experience (at least 8 years)
  • Thorough understanding of an RFP process and digital media operations
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills. Creativity is also a must.
  • Familiarity and enthusiasm for theSkimm: our products and the utility we offer to our audience
  • Results oriented with multiple years of meeting or exceeding quota selling complex deals

WHAT WOULD SET YOU APART

  • Experience working with media agencies and calling directly on C-level executives; existing relationships/contacts
  • WIllingness to thrive in a start-up organization, highly motivated, entrepreneurial, and energetic
  • Experience with overseeing a small team
