About the role:

Our Marketplace is a way to connect our clients with pre-vetted partners providing services across many categories, including Office Help, IT, Security and other office services. Sitting at the intersection of product, operations and customer development, the Category Manager will shape how our clients utilize our Marketplace experience. 

About you:

  • You love to work directly with customers and partners on a regular basis - you’re not afraid to pick up a phone because we all do the little things to win
  • You excel in a cross-functional role: product, operations, and/or growth
  • Mailchimp isn’t a zoo animal to you. You get marketing systems and how to optimize
  • In a perfect world, you and data analytics would have a secret attraction in knowing what data is important and how to draw insights
  • Writing isn’t just an elementary school requirement to you, but a passion in how to communicate to customers through products
  • Building and launching new categories would provide you with immense satisfaction

Responsibilities: 

  • Define a category lifecycle and move its development through research, seeding and scaling
  • Define a category and all the necessary services within it to be comprehensive
  • Manage customer meetings for category feedback
  • Develop marketplace product requirements for your category and services
  • Identify and source the appropriate partners for each service
  • Develop training guidelines and service fulfillment requirements
  • Define service pricing and fee structure
  • Develop copy, imagery and positioning for each service
  • Lead your category development through city expansion
  • Establish appropriate partnerships within categories for category improvement and distribution

Qualifications: 

  • 8+ years of merchandising, product, growth or strategy experience
  • Experience with working in marketplace businesses, a plus
  • Start-up experience strongly preferred
  • Proven track record of research, ideation, testing and building
  • Working knowledge of latest user acquisition strategies
  • Ability to coordinate, lead and synthesize customer development meetings
  • Start-up founder mentality
