1stdibs is actively growing its contemporary furniture category, and the team is looking for a Sales Executive in New York City to join the Contemporary team. This person will reach out to prospective contemporary sellers to educate them on the benefits of the 1stdibs platform and sign them up as sellers within our contemporary category. This is a hands-on role that requires prospecting and relationship building with furniture makers, showrooms, and galleries.

What you’ll do

  • Proactively identify and qualify leads, in partnership with the Contemporary team and internal category specialists
  • Consistently meet and exceed monthly goals of new accounts closed, volume closer
  • Represent 1stdibs with prospects and new accounts, including during meetings and through attendance at events and tradeshows
  • Bring a strong sales/sales prospecting/closing background, understanding of the contemporary furniture industry a plus
  • Develop creative sales strategies and collateral to reach high-priority prospects
  • Proactively prospect new contemporary partners that will help to meet our expansion goals
  • Conduct some pre-sale qualification/information gathering meetings with prospects
  • Plan approaches and pitches and share information back to the broader team on what is working, especially in new market segments
  • Meticulous sales pipeline management through Salesforce and reporting

What you'll bring

  • Minimum 3 years experience in sales
  • Experience with consultative selling
  • Demonstrated ability to identify sales opportunities and convert prospects to customers; demonstrated ability to close a high volume of sales
  • Experience with being held to monthly or quarterly sales target
  • High degree of professionalism, accuracy, and follow-up
  • Eagerness to join a team to help shape a rapidly growing inventory category on 1stdibs
  • Industry connections within the contemporary furnishings industry, and knowledge about furniture manufacturing is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to meet with top designers, artisans, and manufacturers and pitch the 1stdibs value proposition
  • Some experience in the luxury market/luxury home furniture space with a retailer or e-commerce site a plus
  • Role is in the 1stdibs New York office
