At Thrillist, Copy Editors are primarily responsible for overseeing consistency of our style and for copyediting + fact-checking national and local content, as well as video text. As a Thrillist Copy Editor, you will become part of a fast-growing editorial team that’s writing + producing engaging and informative lifestyle content. You’ll be an ensurer of quality both pre- and post-publish, and a big part of making sure our content goes out on deadline by helping to organize and coordinate between editors, writers, and producers. There will also be chances to write and to contribute creatively to the greater team.

Our ideal candidate is a strong writer who's obsessed with grammar, spelling, and punctuation; has a close eye for detail and experience working in CMS; is extremely organized; and excels in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Copy editing and fact-checking
  • Deep comprehension of our editorial calendar
  • Attaining a strong understanding of all of our verticals to maximize copy editing skills
  • Working with editors and producers to ensure that copy is engaging and accurate across all Thrillist verticals and videos
  • Meeting publishing deadlines no matter what else is thrown your way
  • Working with the rest of the Copy Team to modify the Thrillist Style Guide as the team sees fit
  • Pitching and writing engaging and informative stories

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum 1-2 years relevant work experience
  • Must meet deadlines and have strong prioritization & time management skills
  • Excellent communicator with strong attention to detail
  • CMS experience
  • Familiarity with major style guides (particularly AP) is required
  • A good grasp of the Thrillist tone and sensibility
