Description

We’re looking for Copy Lead to join a team of smart, talented individuals who enjoy geeking out on product copy and sparring over the finer points of proper punctuation. If you just noticed the alliterative use of the letter P in the previous sentence, you’re in the right place. If you rolled your eyes as you read it, even better.

 

The team has a wide range of responsibilities, from single-sentence headlines to 80-page tomes on the inner workings of our financial planning algorithm, so we need someone who can quickly change gears while keeping broader objectives in mind. The team is responsible for copy that reaches over 8,000 end users within the LearnVest/Northwestern Mutual universe, as well as millions of clients, so, it’s kind of a big deal.

 

Responsibilities

You absolutely must have experience with product copy, a strong understanding of UX design, and the ability to collaborate with visual designers. As far a subject matter goes, it’s a bonus if you’re already into financial planning. If not, all you need is a strong interest in learning.

 

This role will evolve over time. The team’s responsibilities are growing, so the ability to manage other writers will come into play. Experience in people management is ideal, strong presentation skills and a propensity for leadership is a must.

 

  • Product copy for user flows, including internal systems and logged-in client experiences
  • Product marketing copy, which gives you the opportunity to explain the product to potential users
  • Coordination of the copy team’s contributions to internal content management systems
  • Close collaboration with the Copy Director and team members to ensure consistency of tone across multiple channels


Qualifications

  • 4+ years of writing experience (digital agency experience is a plus)
  • Experience working with UX, visual designers and research
  • Leadership experience and management skills
  • Self-starter who can recognize and pursue opportunities
  • Comfortable in front of a room; confident in presenting work
  • Capacity for collaboration; capable of working independently
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree
