Curriculum Designer (Data Science)
- Create high-quality data science curricula to inspire and educate the next generation of data scientists;
- Improve our learning experience by shaping curriculum standards and our platform;
- Own an important new curriculum domain for Codecademy;
- Be recognized as an industry thought-leader on a platform with tens of millions of learners
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Ability to simplify and explain complex topics;
- Deep understanding of programming and database query languages (e.g. Python, R, SQL);
- Deep understanding of software engineering concepts;
- Deep understanding of statistics, probability, calculus, and linear algebra;
- Experience with the practical application of scientific methods for extracting insights from data;
- Experience with the practical application of data visualization techniques to explain complex ideas;
- 5+ years experience as a professional data scientist
- You can provide learners with both technical and industry guidance;
- You are familiar with the Codecademy platform and our courses;
- You have teaching experience as an instructor, mentor, tutor, or teaching assistant;
- You’re empathetic, enthusiastic, and patient with beginner learners, and are eager to teach the next generation of data scientists
- Propose new courses and programs;
- Define the scope of courses and programs;
- Define learning standards;
- State the prerequisites for the learning standards;
- Explain why the learning standards are taught;
- Explain to what depth the learning standards are taught;
- Provide clear boundaries around the learning standards;
- Explain the learning standards in detail and provide examples, so that a Curriculum Developer can produce content with efficiency and clarity;
- Provide guidance on canonical project code for exercises and projects;
- Review content for technical accuracy
