Responsibilities:
- Own how we collect, analyze, save and query data
- Build Mic’s real-time data pipeline infrastructure
- Work across a variety of teams at Mic to understand data needs, including but not limited to our editorial team, sales team and product team
- Improve how we reason with data in all phases of developing a product
- Support and develop our existing platform:
- We collect and process over 500 million data events each month, using keen.io, AWS S3, AWS Redshift, AWS Lambda & MySQL
- Building sophisticated data analytics and tools like our custom story search tool called Lexicon: Screenshot
Who you are:
- Have 2+ years of experience in a data-centric engineering role
- Experience with AWS Redshift or similar
- Proficient in relational databases
- Obsessed with data integrity
- Possess excellent communication skills, especially surrounding data driven insights
- Able to work both individually and cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with social networks and their APIs a plus
- Experience with NoSQL (DynamoDB, MongoDB, etc) infrastructure setup and management is a plus
- You have worked with many different technologies & frameworks, can quickly evaluate a new one, and are always looking to use the right tool for the job
- You understand getting and giving feedback (for example through code reviews) is a natural part of the work day and something you take very seriously
