Job Description:

Data engineers at Bauer Xcel Media build data-driven solutions using cutting-edge media technologies. We need smart engineers who are passionate about technology to join our team and help us provide timely insight into data for our customers. Your technical expertise will help us to design, develop, test and deploy analytical solutions to complex industrial problems using large data sets. You could be developing a prototype to test out a new open-source data processing framework; working with our data science team to implement a real-time machine learning algorithms at scale; or creating a data pipeline to ensure delivery of insight to a client in a timely fashion.

Responsibilities:

  • Help to implement tools and pipelines for analysis of large data sets, including creation of spikes to reduce risk
  • Collaborate with Software Engineers and Data Scientists to help implement robust and scalable applications
  • Actively contribute to Agile ceremonies
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest open-source technologies

Skills and Requirements

Minimum:

  • BSc in a highly-numerate/computer science discipline or practical commercial experience
  • Proven experience in working with large-volume heterogeneous data including NoSQL, Redshift, preferably with Hadoop/HBase or Apache Spark
  • Significant coding experience and the ability to span languages as needed, depending on the data processing framework in use

Desirable:

  • Experience with batch or real-time data processing frameworks such as Spark, Storm, or Kafka
  • Experience in developing machine learning models at scale
  • Knowledge of data modeling, data access and data storage techniques
  • Data pipeline and microservice design experience on AWS platforms such as ElasticSearch, API Gateway
  • Experience with Lambda processing infrastructures and spot computing
  • Implementation experience with job scheduling tools such as Airflow
  • Master's degree or higher in Computer Science
