The Candidate

You are a utility player who has the technical chops to work closely with the data science and engineering teams, but you are also business minded and want to solve problems that create growth. You think one step ahead understanding how things ripple across the business. You have a strong quantitative background and are experienced working with large data sets to make or support decisions. Working at high speed in a rapidly changing environment excites you.

The Job

  • Craft simple, dependable automated reports and dashboards to surface key metrics and inform business decisions.
  • Explore data to find actionable insights and make recommendations through cohort analyses, user segmentation, regression models, predictive modeling, long-term trends, etc.
  • Identify opportunities to increase conversion and retention driving profitable and scalable customer acquisition.
  • Projects include customer acquisition cost, customer lifetime value, churn analysis, customer segmentation, pre/post campaign analysis, regional variation, and marketing analytics.
  • Empower and guide others to work effectively and efficiently with data creating a data-driven culture.

The Qualifications

  • An excellent communicator - you can synthesize, visualize, and explain complex technical topics to a broad audience with ease.
  • Skilled at exploring, manipulating, and visualizing data in big data to find new patterns and signals.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Math, Statistics, Economics, Astrophysics or other quantitative field.
  • SQL experience - Experience in transactional and data warehouse environments using MySQL, Amazon Redshift, or other database systems.
  • Fluency in Python and Spark.
  • An ability to work independently to get an idea from inception to implementation, including knowledge of techniques for validation and A/B testing.
  • Experiment design - You should have a deep understanding of experiment design: Control vs. variations, factorial experiment design, multivariate experiments, simple random sampling vs. stratified, common pitfalls of data analysis, etc.
  • Collaborative personality - you are comfortable working cross-functionally across many teams.

Bonus Points

  • Experience with supervised and unsupervised machine learning algorithms for regression, classification, and clustering.
  • Experience with Claritas Prizm and/or Acxiom Personicx segmentation tools.
  • Experience with pricing sensitivity analysis.
