The Opportunity:

Shutterstock is growing by leaps and bounds and our data is too! We are looking for an ambitious Data Scientist with a passion for data mining, data analysis, and advanced analytics to support our rapid business growth. Great candidates will be able to understand the big picture needs of a publicly traded international E-Commerce business and deliver information with speed, accuracy, and clarity. You will be working with highly motivated analysts, other data scientists, and engineers to generate actionable insight and analytics to empower data-driven decisioning.

Responsibilities:

• Partner with business stakeholders to identify and solve issues with leveraging data and information systems.
• Scope analytics projects with guidance from team leader.
• Understand data and data flow; must be able to extract data from various data sources and prepare appropriate data sample for analysis
• Analyze and confirm the integrity of source data to be evaluated
• Conduct data mining, data analysis, build predictive models and segmentations, and execute predictive analytics projects using appropriate advanced analytics techniques
• Help implement appropriate quality control procedures for all modeling & analysis reporting and scoring.
• Reduce error rate & re-run frequency. Meet both the analytical & business objective.
• Produce the best quality models that can be developed within the given project timeline.
• Participate in auditing models and results for accuracy
• Inform, influence, and support business stakeholders through presentation of work and consultative approach
• Communicate analytics results and customer insights clearly and effectively
• Actively seek to share knowledge within the team and across business
• Spread best practices to analytics and product teams

Requirements:

• 5+ years experience doing quantitative analysis, statistical / analytics project work.
• MS/MA in Statistics, Math, Physics, Engineering, Machine Learning, Economics, or other technical field. PHD degree is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of statistical and machine learning methodologies, especially in predictive modeling, segmentation, and attribution.
• Strong experience using SQL, and Python, R, or other programming languages.Experience in using Spark is preferred
• Good Excel data analytics skills, ability to use MS Office products
• Good communication skills, including report writing and presentation of results, ability to communicate the results of analyses in a clear and effective manner
• Ability to initiate and drive projects to completion with minimal guidance
• Experience with large data sets and distributed computing (Hive/Hadoop) a plus.
