About this role:

We are looking to expand our small data science team (currently 1 person).  In this role, you will play a major part in shaping the direction and culture of the team.  You will work with a wide range of technologies and will work primarily on new systems in the near-term.  You will wear many hats as Attune grows, and few tasks will be off-limits.

We are seeking someone who is creative but also has solid fundamentals.  You should be passionate about automation and modeling, but should also be able to cut through the hype of the industry.  We value eagerness to both receive and provide feedback and criticism.  Ideally, you have some sort of portfolio demonstrating your creativity, curiosity, or educational efforts. 

Specific responsibilities include:

• Analyze and report on our sales funnel: Who is purchasing what types of insurance, in what industries, at what price, through which partner, etc. Who returns as a customer and who leaves?
• Identify which US small businesses are our best potential customers
• Improve quality and speed of underwriting and pricing using new models and data sources
• Develop experimental tools or web apps to conduct research or pitch ideas for new models or data uses
• Analyze website traffic and user behavior

Qualifications for success:

• You have at least 4 years of related work experience.
• You're comfortable writing code and learning new technologies.
• You have experience with or education in statistical thinking and quantitative methods. Machine learning experience a plus.
• Experience in either Python or R strongly preferred.
