Role Details:

The Director of Content will create strategic and engaging content that defines both the LearnVest and Northwestern Mutual brands across site and social, and help identify how to distribute it — whether text, multimedia or video — in the most compelling way. The director will lead the content team, working alongside the social and video directors to produce content that impactfully communicates the companies’ products, services and missions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee LearnVest and Northwestern Mutual’s content strategy across platforms
  • Create editorial verticals and series that engage and grow our audiences
  • Establish priorities for both feature and daily planning
  • Identify key areas for growth in audience, engagement, traffic and conversion
  • Manage projects across site, social and newsletter
  • Work with Director of Social and Director of Video to create utterly shareable content
  • Leverage analytics to drive editorial decisions, from story ideation to distribution
  • Collaborate with Product to tell stories in the most engaging way possible
  • Guarantee our visuals (images, graphics, etc.) align with defined voice
  • Manage a team of editors, writers and multimedia producers
  • Develop content partnership opportunities with aligned brands
  • Help tell our brand stories through compelling content

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, journalism or related field
  • 5+ years experience within Content Marketing
  • Understanding of how content is shared and consumed differently across digital, social and mobile platforms
  • Ability to use analytics to help drive daily decisions and overall strategy
  • Project management experience, including a track record of delivering results
  • Experience managing a team of writers and editors
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team and multi-task
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
