The job

As the Director of Workers' Compensation you will shape the success of Justworks’ Workers’ Compensation program. Managing a team of Underwriters and Claims Analysts you will develop, direct and monitor underwriting, risk control, and claims programs. You enjoy working cross functionally as each day you will partner with your colleagues in Sales, Operations, Customer Success, and Finance. You enjoys a fast moving iterative environment with a strong culture where your ideas can quickly translate into action.

What you'll do

Recommend and execute improvements to both customer facing (Sales and Customer Success) and vendor facing (MGA and Carrier) processes
Direct risk control consulting programs and procedures, which includes: surveying client operations, risk reviews of underwriting prospects reviewing engineering and administrative controls identifying loss trends and loss control recommendations.
Develop and implement internal and external monitoring processes for risk management including program for PEO clients to comply with OSHA.
Monitor/manage all underwriting staff
Monitor inquiries/issues to identify trends in workers' compensation issues

Who you are

10+ years experience with underwriting, risk management and claims associated with workers' compensation program
experience managing risk associated with large deductible workers' compensation program
Bachelor's Degree
Managerial experience
Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
Experience working with Retail, Light Manufacturing, Commercial Kitchens, Restaurants (not quick-serve)
Multi-jurisdictional knowledge, NY preferred
AINS designation
Charted Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation
Experience working with PEOs
You like working with people and helping others solve problems
You enjoy entrepreneurial environments and want to help build something meaningful

The director and her team are laying the groundwork for a platform that Ghangas said will ease metrics management and reporting. “Our goal is to make data available at scale so Justworks data consumers can ask questions and perform analyses in a reliable, trustworthy and secure way,” she said. Important work like that still leaves room for fun, with engineers engaging in non-core work like hackathons and bimonthly product and engineering demos.
