Job Description

We’re looking for an Email Marketing Manager to join our fast growing Marketing team. This position will report into the Senior Director of CRM, Retention & Loyalty Marketing and will oversee the email channel, from strategy through tactical execution. The ideal candidate is an experienced digital marketer, with e-commerce expertise. We’re looking for someone with a passion for testing, a deep knowledge of best practices, and strong experience staying abreast to current & new industry trends. This position will be responsible for maintaining our existing email marketing strategy & building out new programs with an eye toward cross-sell, upsell and life-cycle optimization. This will be a hybrid role working across both the LearnVest and Northwestern Mutual brands with a key focus on our B2B LearnVest at Work brand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day execution of email programs, including: creating lists, scheduling emails, running the QA process and monitoring deliverability 
  • ESP vendor assessment, onboarding and management
  • Collaborate with Tech, Product and Analytics teams to strengthen ties between internal systems and ESP
  • Setup and deploy complex automated email campaigns
  • Run analytics on email performance and surface relevant findings to the team and make recommendations to optimize performance of programs
  • Create and execute test plans around subject lines, timing, creative, cadence, etc.
  • Manage ESP creating use cases to improve processes and create efficiencies
  • Identify gaps in current CRM (email) process and work with Content, Design and Tech team to refresh process and develop new ones

Desired Skills and Experience

  • 3+ years of digital marketing experience, with a focus on email marketing
  • Experience managing an email program from end-to-end with a focus on consumer behavior
  • Strong understanding of B2C marketing models while being able to adapt based on a variety of consumer needs
  • Previous experience partnering with Account Management and/or Sales Teams
  • Client oriented mindset with excellent communication skills, both written & verbal
  • Good understanding of HTML/CSS and email design best practices
  • Familiarity with CRM or some other form of database management
  • Superior analytical skills and ability to use data to optimize and identify new opportunities
  • Obsessive attention to detail while being able to work cohesively with cross-functional teams
  • Experience with A/B testing and full life-cycle marketing programs/campaigns
  • Team player, comfortable working with design/UX, engineers, data scientists, and product managers
  • Startup DNA: Highly collaborative, self-starter, challenging assumptions, always interested in learning, flexible working in a rapidly changing environment
