About The Position

Raise is searching for an Engineering Manager to lead the mobile development of our native iOS and Android apps. We prefer this candidate be based in NYC but are also open to Chicago. If you’re motivated by solving complex problems and working with modern mobile development frameworks and languages, we want to talk to you. Engineering Managers at Raise work alongside their teams to write production-ready code while taking an active role in the development and mentorship of the engineers they lead.

In this position, you will help guide the day-to-day development of our mobile apps in addition to providing career and professional support, coaching, advising and delivering performance reviews. Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you are responsible for providing visibility into the performance and success of the mobile team, which requires a unique balance of technology leadership and product sense—so the ideal candidate will have experience building successful products and nurturing high performing teams.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit and hire exceptional engineering talent and facilitate onboarding of new team members
  • Guide, mentor, manage and develop a high-performance team
  • Work with engineers and product teams to prioritize, plan and schedule work
  • Collaborate across the organization with Product, Design, and Quality, as well as other engineers
  • Stay up to date on new and emerging technologies, planning accordingly to incorporate valuable concepts to enhance Raise applications
  • Provide technical and non-technical guidance to the team, both individually and as a group
  • Facilitate continuous learning and improvement for the team and its members
  • Drive down cost and time of delivery through ongoing improvements to Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery technologies
  • Provide regular, consistent feedback to team members as well as overall performance reviews

Skills & Qualifications

  • A natural leader with a strong love for people development and management
  • 3+ years of collaborative team leadership experience with 5 or more direct reports desired
  • 5+ years of software development experience preferred
  • Expertise with Swift 3.0, Java and Objective-C required; experience with ReactiveX/RxJava, MVVM, ReactiveCocoa, VIPER, Riblets a plus
  • Experience in every stage of the software development process, from design to architecture, documentation, deployment, code reviews, and maintenance
  • Promote development best practices, such as TDD and pair programming, in a collaborative, Agile environment (with the ability to coach novice developers on the topics)
  • Great organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and keep teams engaged
  • Previous experience with mobile payment systems preferred
  • BS or MS in Computer Science preferred or equivalent experience
