The Role

TripleLift is seeking an experienced backend engineer to join our team full time. We are a fast growing startup in the advertising technology sector, trying to tackle some of the most challenging problems facing the industry. This role consists of a variety of responsibilities from building out our real time bidding ad exchange to enhancing out image analysis and computer vision services.

Core Technologies

We employ a wide variety of technologies here at TripleLift to accomplish our goals. From our early days, we’ve always believed in using the right tools for the right job, and continue to explore new technology options as we grow. The Exchange engineering team primarily uses the following technologies:

  • Java & Netty.io to process to power RTB ad exchange & large scale API
  • Apache ZooKeeper & Apache Kafka to power our message bus
  • Memcached & Aerospike as our high speed datastores
  • Amazon Web Services, Opsworks, & Chef  to power our services

Current Projects / Expected Responsibilities

  • Enhance and support TripleLift’s native RTB exchange that powers our entire platform
  • Help build our a new ad exchange that will scale to over a hundred billion daily requests
  • Work with our data science team to improve our in house ad bidding models and services
  • Improve our image processing and computer vision services
  • Develop and enhance our various engagement API’s and services

Required Skills

  • Experience in building out high performance api’s and services leveraging Java
  • Experience with RDBMS such as MySQL or Redshift
  • Experience with in-memory key value stores such as Memcache, Redis or Aerospike
  • Experience working with queues or other messaging systems such as RabbitMQ or Apache Kafka

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with developing event driven, non-blocking applications in Java leveraging Netty.io or Vert.x
  • Experience developing and architecting stateless and distributed applications
  • Knowledge of computer vision and image processing
  • Professional Experience in the Ad-tech industry


Education Requirement

A Bachelor’s degree in computer science,or a related discipline is preferred, although candidates with relevant experience who hold other degrees will be considered.

Experience Requirement

At least 2 years of working in a professional, collaborative environment.
