Financial Systems Manager
Buzzfeed is looking for a motivated and experienced leader to own the management of our Financial Systems. This person will be responsible for managing the selection, implementation and maintenance of financial and accounting systems while collaborating with other departments to ensure requirements are met across operating systems and processes are aligned and working efficiently. The ideal candidate will have experiences setting the strategic direction for new financial applications and reporting tools. Documenting business requirement and assisting with software selection will also be key responsibilities of this role. This position will be essential in helping us build a world class finance and accounting function that will help the company scale, grow and support critical business decisions making.
About the Role
Business owner and point of contact for all finance and accounting systems
Building and implementing new systems while monitoring integrations to ensure accuracy and efficiency
Work with finance and accounting leadership to define finance and accounting system roadmap and future plans
Recommend and implement ongoing application enhancements
Drive the selection process for new finance systems
Project Manage finance and accounting systems projects from inception to go live and post production support
Work with finance and business stakeholders to define business requirements for new systems or system improvements
Facilitate all aspects and phases of testing initiatives for implementations and/or enhancement projects including assisting with writing test scripts that ensure the system matches the business requirements.
Manage user access to all financial systems
Develop and conduct user training sessions
Document and maintain user and system processes
Troubleshooting issues such as data, reporting and system issues, and interfacing with IT team to ensure system alignment
Develop and implement policies & procedures that define security, access and monitoring controls
Requirements
5-8 years of experience in managing Accounting and Financial Systems
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred
ERP experience required, preferably with NetSuite
Experience with, or exposure to the following tools preferred: Workday, NetSuite, Coupa, Blackline, Adaptive
Accounting related system implementation experience a plus
A strong understanding of business processes and requirements
Detailed understanding of common industry standard business practices as related to Accounting (AR, AP, GL, Invoicing, Inventory)
Strong project management skills
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Data analytics skills and experience working with large data sets
Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work independently with minimal guidance
