We’re looking for a strategist/analyst hybrid to lead growth strategy for Video at Refinery29, across all platforms. You’ll set growth goals for video and work cross functionally with partners across the company to drive the fast-paced growth of our video division. You’ll work hand in hand with the video team to test and implement strategies to ensure we meet growth goals, and you’ll share high-level strategies and resulting performance with the executive team. You’re a strategic thinker with an analytical background and a vision of video’s role in the future of digital media.

Who’s a good fit? Someone who is eager, ambitious, curious, data-driven, creative, and digital media savvy. A lead-by-example manager, and a team player. Someone who has an analytical background and can maneuver Excel in their sleep. Someone who actively consumes digital video, and might have some experience making it. Someone who is passionate about Refinery29’s mission to create content that puts women at the center of the narrative.


Responsibilities include:


  • Drive Growth Strategy:
Set and maintain video growth model for all video channels, understanding all drivers of success and how we can ensure growth month over month. Communicate high level strategies and resulting performance to upper level management.
  • Report what matters: Oversee growing team of Associate Growth Strategists charged with all video reporting and analytics distributed to the company. Take an active role in ensuring that analytics are considered throughout the whole production cycle for each of our video channels.
  • Offer insights: Synthesize insights into actionable strategic recommendations to establish best practices and drive platform specific strategies; develop and manage testing schedule and communicate learnings to cross-functional teams.
  • Support audience growth: Manage paid media campaigns for non-branded video content on existing channels and audience growth on new video channels.
  • Drive industry thought leadership: Maintain and distribute competitive benchmarking to the executive team, keeping up to date with what others in the industry are doing. Be the in-house expert in industry news within the digital video space.

  • Qualifications:


    • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Finance, or other quantitative field
    • 3-5 years of relevant work experience in a fast-paced, growing digital company
    • Knowledge of Excel modeling plus fluency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
    • Experience with web and social analytics (experience with video specifically is a plus)
    • Excellent communication skills, ability to digest complicated data and synthesize it in a way that derives insights and drives action
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment and strong ability to adapt, multi-task and manage multiple deadlines at once
    • Ability to work and communicate effectively across functional areas with our producers, writers, executive team, and sales team
    • Demonstrated interest in and understanding of the media landscape
