Kinnek is the champion for small businesses. Our mission is to build a single platform for small businesses that makes discovering, transacting and interacting with suppliers more powerful, more trustworthy and easier than ever before. 

Over the past few years, we've started down this path by building out our marketplace- the first B2B marketplace that connects SMBs (small and medium businesses) with suppliers of equipment, machinery, bulk supplies- really anything they need for their business that can't be easily found on the likes of Amazon or EBay.

Our company is now at an exciting inflection point- we raised a $20M Series B led by Thrive Capital, and we're looking to scale our efforts to meet our lofty ambitions. In the near future, we'll be expanding to new verticals, laying the foundation for our leadership team, and shoring up our internal processes to handle orders of magnitude larger volume. As far as our product is concerned, we're about to embark upon a massive overhaul of our product in order to incorporate all that we've learned about our users and their needs over the past few years. We're on the cusp of incorporating capabilities that our users have always dreamed of, and we've known for a while would lead to massive upticks in growth. Not to mention, these new product efforts are on the bleeding edge of B2B marketplace technology- it's uncharted waters.

In order to guide our product efforts through these exciting times, we're looking for a Head of Product to lead our effort to take the Kinnek product to the next level. This person would report directly to the CEO, and would be responsible for overseeing the implementation of Kinnek's product roadmap. We have extremely talented Product Managers at Kinnek, and we've always been a product-driven organization. As our product grows increasingly complex and our bar for product success is raised, we now recognize the need for a leader who can captain our product management efforts and coordinate our product efforts across the myriad internal and external stakeholders involved.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the Product team on a day-to-day basis and manage a growing product organization, taking our 5-person team to new heights.
  • Identify, implement and iterate on product management best practices, working with PMs, Engineers, and other members of the team to relentlessly improve how we operate.
  • Hiring for and changing organizational structure of the Product team as needed
  • Ensuring the Product team executes our company's product roadmap effectively, coordinating amongst the Product, Engineering, Data, Design, and Marketing/Sales/Accounts functions to achieve this.
  • Day-to-day people management of the Product Managers and Designers at Kinnek, including providing mentorship and guidance, monitoring performance and giving performance reviews and feedback, and having periodic 1:1s.
  • Define and relentlessly promulgate a strong Product Management process within the Product team.
  • Work closely with founders to continually refine the company's high-level product strategy 
  • Responsible for coordinating periodic refreshes of company's product roadmap and ensuring the product roadmap is aligned with the high-level strategic priorities of the company and the founders' product vision
  • Articulate our product roadmap effectively within the organization, and help internal stakeholders understand the impact of what they're building.
  • Work cross-functionally with Data, Design, Engineering, Marketing and Operations to launch, measure performance of, and iterate on product.
  • Run our daily engineering/product stand-up meetings.
  • Plan weekly product/engineering/design sprints and run weekly product working group meetings.

 

Qualifications:

  • Being a badass product leader
  • BA/BS degree in a quantitative / Computer Science / Engineering field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years of experience as a product leader who has managed other product managers
  • 7+ years of work experience at a technology product-focused organization
  • Explicit desire to be at the ground-floor of an early-stage, rapid-growth startup
