BuzzFeed Entertainment Group is looking for a beauty writer who lives, breathes, and obsesses over all things hair, beauty, and makeup-­related for a full-­time paid position in the New York office, available to start immediately. The ideal candidate is a creative self­-starter who can speak to a variety of audiences, and has tons of experience and interest in the natural hair and multicultural beauty worlds. They will work closely with our multicultural beauty editor to create content that will help us grow new audiences. This position should be skilled in writing multicultural and diverse beauty topics, and possess the technical expertise to produce content across the website and social media platforms, as well as occasionally help produce beauty and style shoots. 

BuzzFeed Style covers style and beauty through a friendly and funny lens. We cover a vast array of topics — from cool hair and beauty trends, to helpful shopping and style tips, to funny pop culture posts, weddings, body image and body positivity, and more. This is an insanely fun position that will involve a lot of hands­ on experimentation and the opportunity to see your biggest ideas fully realized.

Responsibilities:

• Produce clickable and shareable hair and beauty posts for people of color
• Observe viral trends in social media communities and create content around those trends
• Take on active role in BuzzFeed's online space for multicultural audiences to grow social channels 
• Help ideate off-platform beauty content for people of color with graphic designers and video producers
• Establish relationships with experts and influencers of color in the style/beauty community for collaboration opportunities via posts, video, etc
• Help develop projects and events that could grow multicultural audience

Requirements:

• Expert knowledge and experience with natural hair and multicultural beauty
• One-two years of magazine, website, or beauty blogging/vlogging experience, or similar experience in the hair and beauty industry
• Ability to approach beauty and style from a very accessible perspective for people of all races, gender, and ages
• Desire to obsessively experiment and think up new hair, beauty, and makeup tips
• A positive, curious, playful disposition with a sense of humor
• Comfort with the fast pace of internet publishing
• Experience using all social media platforms, especially Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat
• Firm grasp on the BuzzFeed voice
• Contacts in the hair and beauty industry are a major plus
• Video knowledge and experience are also a plus
