Our Company

Ellevest is a well-funded startup in NYC, poised to be the leading digital investment platform for women. We started the company to solve a problem — for all the attention paid to the gender pay gap, there’s also a gender investing gap that can cost women even more over the course of their lives. That means building a technology-based investing service around women’s longer lifespans, different salary curves, and research-based behavioral differences. Led by Sallie Krawcheck, former head of Smith Barney and Merrill Lynch, and with investors including Khosla Ventures, Morningstar, and Venus Williams, we’re growing and always looking for great people to join our diverse team.

About This Position

We’re looking to hire a Lead QA Engineer to help us as we scale to support our growing client base. This is a full time engineering role that has great potential to positively impact the long term quality of our product. You will work with the Engineering, Product, and Client Experience teams to diagnose issues in our application and verify outgoing fixes. You will also lead a small but growing QA team and fully build out our automated testing capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Support our Client Experience team by recreating and diagnosing issues reported by customers and team members.
  • Develop and maintain automated test cases for our staging environments using NightwatchJS and Selenium Webdriver.
  • Work with engineers to design and develop automated tests of backend functionality related to financial projections and financial operations.
  • Certify and coordinate daily production releases.
  • Manually test bug fixes and new features before they are deployed to production.
  • Perform exploratory testing to find new bugs across devices and browsers.
  • Provide leadership to a small but growing QA team.

Qualifications

  • At least four years of professional experience testing web applications in an agile setting, with some experience in leading teams.
  • Experience writing automated tests using Selenium Webdriver, especially using Javascript bindings (NightwatchJS, CasperJS, WebdriverIO).
  • Experience in testing financial applications is strongly preferred.
  • Experience using JIRA, Pivotal Tracker, or another issue tracking software
  • A strong attention to detail, a natural curiosity, and patience in the face of hard-to-track-down bugs is imperative.
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to write thorough, step-by-step bug reports that can be used by Client Experience and Engineering.
