Do you love breaking stuff? Yeah, us too. But not on production… although we can’t make any promises there! We’re looking for a Lead QA Engineer to join our team and build the next generation of Updater products.
Updater is one of the fastest growing tech companies in Silicon Alley, and our goal is to streamline the moving process for the millions of households who move each year. Moving is complicated, but it shouldn’t be. That’s why our platform is comprised of a suite of both business and consumer-facing apps: from a consumer-facing platform to a variety of products for real estate companies to an API and an Integrations Platform.
Our products are currently written in AngularJS, Angular, and Ruby, and we chose these tools thoughtfully because they were the best choice for our products at the time. However, we’re not dogmatic, and evaluate new frameworks and our stack frequently. From architecture discussions to evaluating new tools and building out new features, you’ll have tremendous impact on the team.
As the Lead QA Engineer, you’ll lead a new team at Updater and be responsible for building and implementing a QA system.
What you’ll do:
- Empower developers by selecting and implementing the best QA automation frameworks & technology.
- Teach and foster a developer QA based engineering team.
- Implement additional tools, technologies & resources that will help minimize the amount of time engineers spend on QA.
- Introduce a QA system. Refine/mentor around the process.
What you’ll have:
- Understands and has used products like Rainforest, Applause, etc. to streamline the QA process.
- Experience managing a small team (2-5 Individuals).
- Experience testing across multiple devices.
- Healthy knowledge of the tools & landscape for automated QA Frontend & Backend.
- Experience with setting up End-to-End testing with tools such as Protractor, Nightwatch.js, etc
- Experience running both a QA side and QA engineers (we're looking for small and efficient teams)
- Tremendous domain knowledge. You’re intellectually curious and understand the pros and cons of different tools and technologies.
- A pragmatic approach to engineering. You have opinions about engineering processes, architecture, infrastructure, and tools, but understand there’s often multiple valid ways to solve a problem.
- Product and business sense. You care about the impact of your work on the business and end user, and take a proactive approach to working with Product.
