Kargo is looking for a Manager or Director of People Operations to report into the SVP (and possibly manage 6 direct reports). This role is responsible for leading key HR initiatives globally such as performance management, employee coaching/counseling, compensation strategy, rewards & recognition, employee communication and efficiency, payroll, benefits, employee onboarding and orientation, and the Summer Internship Program.
The Responsibilities
- Execute and interpret HR policies, practices and company philosophy and ensure effective implementation, acting as a resource to managers to ensure fair and consistent application.
- Partner with managers to help define and clarify accountabilities and competencies to align with company, department, and team goals.
- Manage the annual performance review process by coaching managers to ensure objective setting, monitoring, and feedback of employee performance.
- Manage and ensure the coordination and administration of all benefit programs which include health, dental, vision, short and long-term disability, supplemental benefit programs, leave administration, life insurance, FSA, and 401(k) plan in addition to FMLA, Maternity, and other personal leave.
- Partner with management on performance issues, compensation, retention strategies and employee development as needed.
- Develop employee communication strategies and execute innovative recognition programs, while working closely with leadership to foster employee morale and engagement.
- Curate and champion company culture through events, education, and communication by way of committee oversight
- Create and oversee successful implementation of Kargo Kollege, - a learning and development program which includes company orientation and Welcome Program, monthly office hours, and quarterly all-hands by the COO
- Manage US immigration and visa administration, working collaboratively with external counsel to advise on US immigration requirements and timelines.
- Potential to manage all office and facilities operations globally
The Requirements
- 6-10 years of HR experience at a high-growth, fast paced startup, tech, or digital company
- 1+ years of experience managing people
- Strong organization skills – things will not be easily gathered or given. Someone who can be organized in a slightly unorganized atmosphere will excel
- Able to multi-task and prioritize based on level and urgency – priorities change every day. Being able to adapt to changing demands is important
- Creative and strategic problem solve - We are not your typical HR department and want someone that is agile.
- Natural ability to communicate with all levels of the org – Kargo is relatively flat. We need someone who can easily connect with execs at the highest level and individual contributors at the lowest level.
- Ultimate discretion with confidential information – it goes without saying that this role requires confidentiality. We need someone who can practice discretion in all instances, separating work and friendships.
- Know how to have fun - As part of the people department, you have to genuinely like people and be genuinely likable :) You also have to know when to stop and have fun!
- Experience managing office operations and/or facilities is a plus!
- Experience moving from a PEO to in-house also a plus!
