ABOUT THE TEAM AND ROLE

theSkimm makes it easier to be smarter. We started as two friends on a couch and have since purchased more couches and gotten new friends, er... employees. Skimm HQ works hard but knows when to take breaks and when it's time to update the Spotify playlist. We drink the kool-aid but know we're drinking it. The sales team at theSkimm is a small group of experienced, resourceful, scrappy hustlers. We pull out all of the stops to get sh*t done. We’re seeking an energetic, multifaceted rockstar who knows how to finesse client/brand relations, has media experience, knows how to plan both simple and complex campaigns and can think outside of the box.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

This role is a mix of project, account and brand management. You will be the juggler of all tasks and the owner of mitigating any potential risks. You will work closely with our sales leads to bring the deals they sell to fruition and ensure that we have a plan on how we reach our partner’s goals. In this role, you will:

  • Know how to plan and translate media and client requests into a way our editorial and design team understands.
  • Act as the gatekeeper of balance - You understand theSkimm brand and aesthetic and your goal is to always find the best intersection of both us and the partner.
  • Push back when a client’s request goes against our brand guidelines or ethos, and know how to find a solution that will strike the right balance.
  • Act as our eyes and ears in finding opportunities to turn existing projects into repeat business. (Growing this B).

WHAT WILL SET YOU UP FOR SUCCESS

  • 4-8 years experience, with at least 2 years at an agency
  • Experience managing and executing digital creative projects (site design to social campaigns) spanning in budget of $50K to $1MM
  • Ability to organize designers, copywriters and developers on multi-dimensional campaigns
  • Ability to manage and execute programs and marketing plans that include, but are not limited to: native digital content, video production & event sponsorships
  • Solid understanding of sales process and experience working in an account management capacity
  • Solid foundation and understanding of media sales operations (trafficking, tagging, reporting) and how to execute on them
  • Ability to translate KPIs into well executed plans of action
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and take complete ownership of projects from conception to execution
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Creative thinker who can problem solve cross functionally
  • Familiarity and enthusiasm for theSkimm: our products and the utility we offer to our audience

WHAT WOULD SET YOU APART

  • Proficiency in budget management
  • Understanding of project management methodologies and familiarity with project planning software
  • Experience developing processes based on learnings from projects executed
  • WIllingness to thrive in a start-up organization, highly motivated, entrepreneurial, and energetic.
  • Experience working in a small team
