Oncology Outcomes Abstractor: Contract to Hire (RN, PA, NP or CRP)
We are looking for oncology clinicians and research professionals to join our Outcomes Abstraction Team to help us interpret and organize oncology data. This role will focus on identifying and documenting various outcomes endpoints, including but not limited to patient response, progression of disease, mortality, and safety trends.
This is a remote position, which offers the flexibility of working from the comfort of your home and is a contract-to-hire opportunity. Accepted candidates will be brought on as contractors with 40 hours work per week and will have the opportunity to be promoted to a full-time employee with benefits after a three-month evaluation period.
Responsibilities
- Abstract data from electronic medical records using our proprietary software system
- Triage and respond to abstractor questions related to data abstraction
- Help with initial testing of forms for content development
- Participate in regular team web or telephone conferences and other ad hoc meetings, as needed
- Obtain and maintain credentials to abstract in a number of modules, as determined by management
- Maintain a high level of performance, as measured by both efficiency and quality scores as well as predefined target metrics, when applicable
- Travel to New York City for in-person meetings at least 1-2 times per year
- Provide feedback to our team about the software that you are using and for resolving conflicts when database fields are missing or incomplete
Requirements:
- Be a registered nurse, nurse practitioner, physician assistant or clinical research professional with a minimum of five years’, hands-on experience working in oncology
- Be familiar with all aspects of how cancer is treated, from diagnosis to recovery, and be fluent in cancer terminology
- Knowledge and experience with AJCC staging is recommended
- Have a high comfort level with technology and familiarity with EMR systems, including the ability to recommend system improvements and interact with engineering staff
- Demonstrate exceptional attention to detail
- Bonus points for experience with outcomes research
- Experience with data entry, including strong typing skills, is helpful
