Group Nine Media is a NY and SF-based digital media company consisting of four core brands: Thrillist, NowThis, The Dodo, and Seeker. Our content collectively reaches hundreds of millions of people and is viewed over 4.5 billion times every month. We’re currently working on the evolution of our content and it’s distribution, focusing on everything from data-driven optimization, to new platform adoption such as Amazon Alexa and VR.

We are looking to add an Operations Engineer to our Engineering team in our SOHO, NYC office.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and improve a scalable and robust AWS infrastructure
• Work with the platform engineering team to manage our CMS and microservices running in ECS
• Collaborate with the engineering team to ensure deploys and services run smoothly
• Implement and design our infrastructure as code using jenkins, ansible, and terraform
• Improving operational workflows, efficiency, performance, and stability

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of Linux administration and cloud infrastructure systems optimization.
• Strong experience managing cloud environment, familiarity with most AWS offerings (EC2, Elasticache, RDS, Route53, Autoscaling, Load Balancing, VPC, etc)
• Experience with containers and cluster management (Docker, Kubernetes, Nomad, etc)
• Experience with automation/configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet or an equivalent
• Experience with CI platforms such as Jenkins for Automated testing and Continuous Delivery
• Experience using scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Ruby to administer remote systems
• Experience with monitoring and alerting tools (Sensu, the ELK stack, Grafana, Datadog, Tableu, PagerDuty, etc) to identify and notify about/resolve system issues
• Strong communication skills and experience working with multiple teams and team leads to design and implement new infrastructure stacks
• Digital media experience, or experience with ad networks, a big plus
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related degree
