 The Company

Gimlet media tells stories through audio. Our roster of podcasts includes newly-launched, critically-acclaimed shows like Homecoming, Heavyweight, and Science Vs. We’re also home to perennial favorites Reply All and StartUp. We are looking for ambitious, curious, talented, and kind people to join our team.

We come from diverse backgrounds, brought together by the desire to make amazing things, and a shared belief in working hard, embracing creativity, and supporting one another. At Gimlet, good ideas matter more than titles. People who tackle problems with creative solutions, and who love the energy of a collaborative, team-oriented creative process thrive here.

We’re looking to grow the People Operations team here at Gimlet. Reporting to the Director of People Operations, this role will be critical in helping scale our recruiting, diversity & inclusion, and culture efforts. This is a fabulous role for someone looking to gain experience across multiple People disciplines.

The Job

The People Operations Manager will be the second hire on the People Ops team and will be critical in helping scale our recruiting, diversity and inclusion, and culture efforts. We’re looking for someone eager to be a generalist (with a touch of recruitment specialist), and who loves thinking conceptually as much as they do getting in the weeds with a spreadsheet. We’re just getting started on lots of initiatives- everything from a proper campus recruiting program, to employer branding- and we’re excited to bring someone on board who’s as keen to tackle the future as we are. This is a manager-level role, but we’re open to exceptional candidates at a more junior level.

What You’ll Do

  • Support Gimlet’s recruiting effort by sourcing and screening candidates, scheduling interviews, and proactively identifying and cultivating passive talent
  • Own campus recruitment and university relations
  • Help systematize and scale our internship program
  • Assist with payroll management
  • Help architect and implement Gimlet’s training and development programs
  • Develop and run monthly, quarterly, and yearly dashboards for recruiting and People metrics
  • Act as a main support for Gimlet’s diversity and inclusion efforts (recruiting, internal programming, training, etc.).
  • Serve as main point of contact for day-to-day People Ops-related questions from the organization

What You Have

  • 2-3 years of recruiting and/or business partner/generalist experience in a high-caliber HR or People Ops team
  • Exceptional communication skills, across the board
  • A unique ability to build and nurture relationships at all levels of an organization. Ideally, you’re the “go-to” person for your colleagues, friends, and family
  • Proven organizational skills and experience working with sensitive and confidential information
  • A truly “roll up your sleeves” attitude towards work- we’re a small but mighty team, and we support an ever-evolving organization
  • Experience with Greenhouse a plus!

To apply, please submit a cover letter (we do actually read them!) explaining your interest in this role, as well as a resume. Lots of people ask to whom they should address their letter so feel free to drop a line to yours truly, the mysterious figure behind this job posting/Director of People Ops: Katie. This is a full-time role, based in our Brooklyn, NY offices.
