Product Experience

Product Experience is a portion of the overall Product & Engineering department. This team is made up of two key functions – Product Marketing & Product Design. These two functions work closely together to define market need, understand our user and design engaging experiences. You will be part of the Product Design team.

The Squad

Bespoke

Bespoke is a 3 person squad on the Product Design team focused on creating innovative storytelling experiences by blending the written word, imagery, video and technology. This team creates custom interactive features that make meaningful connections between Refinery29’s audience and brand partners, which result in measurable gains for partners' KPIs. We additionally help with marketing moments for the Refinery29 brand including splash pages, campaign pages and experiential cross-over.

The Bespoke squad works with outside vendors, as well as develops production-ready experiences in-house to deliver to the R29 audience. 

The Role

Product Designer

Refinery29 is seeking an out-of-the-box thinking, hybrid designer who can deliver strong visual design solutions while keeping functionality and user experience top of mind. The Product Designer will work with the team to ideate new experiences based on major brand tentpoles or partnerships that require an interactive angle. They will sketch, design and prototype new ideas for production and proof of concept.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter and can take initiative on their own. They must be highly collaborative, and energetic, as they will work cross-functionally with the Creative and Editorial teams.

Requirements

• 2-3 years of interactive design experience with an established media publication, digital agency, fashion brand or technology company
• Strong skills in UI/UX, typography, and information architecture, as well as an eye for identity, color, and editorial layout
• Strong conceptual thinking with the ability to communicate ideas effectively
• Impeccable taste and attention to detail across all facets of visual and interactive design
• Genuine ability and desire to collaborate and contribute to a team effort but also work independently
• Ability to work quickly and efficiently under pressure, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines
• Ability to internalize feedback and iterate rapidly
• Positive, open, and ego-free attitude
• A deep knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Google Suite, Sketch, Invision
• Basic experience with HTML, CSS and JavaScript a plus

This role reports to the Product Design Director.
