With a focus on content, sweepstakes and commerce, Bauer Xcel is looking for a (Sr) Director of Product to help us grow the existing digital business and reach new audiences. Reporting to SVP Technology, the (Sr.)Director, Product is responsible for the vision and direction of the Product function at Bauer Xcel.

– Product Vision

You will work hand in hand with the SVP of Technology, Vice President of Editorial & Audience Development, and Vice President of Revenue to define and drive the product strategy that inspires the company. You’ll identify needs, trends, and innovative ways to best serve our audience, and drive revenue across our properties and off-site platforms.

- Execution

No matter where the vision comes from, all the great vision in the world doesn’t mean much if you can’t get the product idea from concept to live. You know how to get things done and have absolutely proven your ability to do so. You are an expert in agile product planning, customer discovery, product discovery, and the product development process. You understand when experimenting and testing out an idea is necessary and how to build out an MVP. You have strong skills in stakeholder management and internal evangelism, and understand that it is as important to communicate the roadmap as it is to build one. You leave your stakeholders with a clear understanding of the plan without bogging them down in the details.

You will help foster a culture of innovation and experimentation, where the team understands the importance of continuous and testing and learning. Your mantra is Fail Fast and you are not afraid to pivot if necessary.

About You:

You will:

  • Lead the product definition across multiple different teams;
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to define product strategy in key business areas;
  • Identify clear and strategic KPIs that will help measure how well we are executing;
  • Serve as the primary advocate for customers and jointly design the user experience with UX
  • Specialize in mobile applications, websites, and newsletters;
  • Specialize in product data analytics to measure product performance;
  • Optimize audience growth and user engagement for on and off-network products;
  • Clearly communicate the progress and results of the team to the rest of the company


Desired Skills and Experience

  •  5-7 years of digital product and strategy with deep understanding of digital content, ecommerce, and audience engagement.
  • Deep understanding of agile product planning, customer discovery, product discovery, and the product development process
  • Deep understanding of design, editorial, and development processes
  • Deep understanding of content and distribution strategies that encourage sharing and viral expansion
  • ​Experience working with a CMS that services a medium-sized editorial group
  • ​Working knowledge of SEO
  • Familiarity with and understanding of programmatic advertising
  • Familiarity with microservices and services based architecture. You have managed the roadmap for APIs.
  • Familiar with A/B testing and have thoughts on what to test and what not to test
  • ​Ability to manage multi functional stakeholders
  • Ability to track details without losing sight of the big picture
  • Demonstrated success launching high quality digital products in a consumer-oriented company
  • Strong organization and communication skills
  • Collaborative Spirit
