As a Senior Analyst on the Data Science team, you are part data engineer - structuring elegant data models and navigating ETL pipelines that provide the Analytics team with clean datasets, and part data scientist - building both predictive and inference models using the latest methods that drive informed business decisions. Following the CRISP-DM approach, you also require a strong business understanding that helps establish a clear narrative to your scientific approach.

Our Data Science program focuses on the core areas of our e-commerce marketplace, including acquisition of demand, optimization of supply and development of site features. In addition, you will support the growth of our Trade Program via co-development of our data warehouse and BI infrastructure and attribution modeling of Trade customer activation.

What you’ll do

  • Develop a mastery of 1stdibs site interactions data to create the necessary data model in BigQuery
  • Build clustering algorithms that help identify themes and potential Product features through the analysis of unstructured customer inquiries to dealers
  • ETL/ELT data from various sources for ingestion into statistical models to build decision trees, perform PCA and quantify propensity that inform Customer Acquisition
  • Collaborate with data architects/engineers to establish the appropriate data schemas/lakes/marts for our BI platform
  • Build complex reporting automation, leveraging R and SQL for extraction and processing

What you'll bring

  • Master’s in a quantitative field, data science or business analytics
  • 2+ years of experience in product analytics
  • Extreme proficiency with various analytical toolkits; SQL and R are a must
  • Extreme comfortability with large, complex relational databases (both transactional and analytical) and nested log tables; MySQL, Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery
  • Experience with ensemble methods for classification, bayesian statistics and data mining
  • Knowledge of cloud computing frameworks such as Apache Spark and Elastic Mapreduce
  • Familiarity with business intelligence solutions (Looker, Tableau, Chartio) and Amazon Web Services
  • Ability to translate complex technical terminology into easy to digest chunklets of facts
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment
