Senior Manager of News Development

BuzzFeed Motion Pictures is looking for an ambitious team member to lead the development of BuzzFeed News IP and franchises. We're looking for someone who is knowledgeable and curious about unlocking news models for documentaries and news shows. The ideal candidate will have experience and past success in packaging and selling news entertainment projects. This position will report to the Head of Development.

This position is based in our New York City office. We offer competitive compensation, as well as a stock option program.

Responsibilities:

• Execute strategy for developing a slate of documentary features with various outside producers
• Be the main stakeholder in sales process for documentary slate
• Embed in the BuzzFeed News team to track and package upcoming and published news stories
• Constantly cultivate relationships with prospective buyers in digital and traditional entertainment
• Track and account for slate progress to BuzzFeed News Editor In Chief and Head of Development
• Work closely with senior editors, business affairs, and business development

Qualifications:

• A vast network of contacts across the documentary industry
• A verifiable track record of project sales
• Experience across digital, TV, and film
• Ability to work in small teams as well as work independently
• A positive, curious, playful disposition (no haters)
