Away is seeking a Director of Operations to join our growing team! In this role you will lead the strategy and execution of Away's global inventory operations. You will lead and grow our existing Operations team, providing mentorship, guidance, and training to your direct reports. The ideal candidate for this role has 7+ years operational experience in e-commerce operations, supply chain and inventory management. This position is based out of our headquarters in Noho and reports to our Head of Finance, Operations, and Retail.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Lead the strategy and execution of all inventory operations including planning, purchasing, freight forwarding, warehousing, fulfillment, transportation, personalization, returns, and warranty.
  • Build and lead a team providing training and mentorship for your direct reports
  • Identify and own Operations KPIs, including inventory turns, in stock rate, turnaround time on personalized orders, transit time to consumer, fulfillment/transportation cost, and more to ensure that the entire Operations team is supporting wider company goals and constantly raising the bar for operational excellence
  • Oversee relationship with Away’s existing 3PL as well as lead efforts to add additional fulfillment locations to maximize the experience for customers and cost savings
  • Collaborate cross functionally with Finance, Retail, Brand Partnerships, Product Development, Data, and Consumer Insights to ensure Away is always operationally delivering an exceptional customer experience cost effectively 
  • Own strategy and execution of new Operations initiatives, including expansion of 3PL footprint domestically and international expansion of fulfillment and transportation network

WHO YOU ARE:

  • 7+ years experience in operations and/or supply chain roles that are both strategic and executional at a high growth e-commerce company; 3+ years experience managing high performing teams; experience working with 3PLs/warehouses a must
  • Exceptional excel and analytical skills
  • Excellent project management, communication and organizational skills
  • Proven leadership and people management skills and a passion for developing talent
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced and energetic environment
