Responsibilities
- Develop and implement package test plans for all projects.
- Bring Design-To-Value into every new development ensuring the construction and design provides the most cost effective way to achieve design criteria while providing the best function and quality.
- Partner with External Third-Party manufacturing sites to provide Quality Engineering/Assurance guidance for the brand. From defining specifications, design criteria and defect ranges to ensuring optimal process flow through filling and assembly.
- Develop package specifications and validate that technical drawings clearly identify all aspects required to define the package.
- Ensure all projects are completed and meet the intended design, quality, cost, functionality and manufacturability objectives.
- Work with Operations team to ensure component production and filling/assembly are operating efficiently.
- Develop detailed component timelines with vendors to include all package development tasks and manage them.
- Identify and inform Brand of any risks and/or delays during course of development.
- Establish workload priorities to ensure all projects are managed within expected delivery dates.
- Communicate and work closely with all development groups including Operations, R&D, Marketing, PR, Product Development, Design and Brand Management.
- Collaborate and interact with Packaging Consultant to define packaging processes and procedures that will support and sustain new product launches to guide and elevate the evolution of Packaging into a competitive advantage for Glossier.
- Build and cultivate relationships with Contract Filling and Third-Party Manufacturing sites.
Qualifications
- BS Degree in Packaging/Engineering or related field.
- 6+ years experience in package development.
- Concentrated experience in prestige beauty industry with proven development experience in color, fragrance, skin-care categories, holiday-set and accessories development.
- Technical Competency
- Comprehensive knowledge of materials used in the construction and manufacturing of primary, secondary and tertiary packaging.
- Extensive experience in color management.
- Comprehensive knowledge of test methods used to validate component/package performance.
- This position requires a self-motivated professional who is technical yet strong in understanding and communicating Design direction to lead Glossier’s Packaging equity with external suppliers and manufacturing sites.
