Position Overview:

Research and Consumer Insights is a key part of our marketing organization providing deep insights related to our brand, product platforms, competition, and most importantly, our customer, to position Rent the Runway at the forefront of brand and product innovation. The Senior Manager, Research and Consumer Insights will consistently deliver the most up-to-date narrative of Rent the Runway’s brand health and customer awareness and perception, accounting for all factors ranging from our owned channels to rapidly evolving retail and customer landscape. You will personally execute qualitative and quantitative research and dive deeply into a variety of data sources to deliver organized thinking, relevant learning, consumer insights, KPI tracking, performance monitoring and innovation planning – translating those into comprehensive readouts and actionable recommendations for the entire organization. The ideal candidate has a passion for understanding the female psyche, strong qualitative and quantitative research skills, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights for key stakeholders across the company. Responsibilities:

  • Lead research to uncover and deliver analysis and key insights to impact key decisions across the business
  • Help create benchmarks and KPIs as relates to Rent the Runway brand health and awareness and track against earned and owned media spend
  • Execute ongoing analysis of customer experience, including but not limited to calls/in-person discussion, social listening, and NPS, captured in monthly “pulse of customer” report with actionable recommendations that support optimization in the short-term and innovation in the longer-term
  • Manage the planning and execution of quantitative studies (including method selection, questionnaire/discussion guide development, programming and testing surveys, sample procurement, field and quota management, and data analysis)
  • Personally execute qualitative customer research for day-to-day learnings (e.g. writing and programming surveys, moderating store shopalongs, ethnographies, focus groups, phone interviews, etc.), supplementing with vendors only when needed
  • Develop an ongoing profile of the RTR customer to serve as a constant input for cross-functional team, and present quarterly findings in formal research report
  • Support in the development of internal strategy documents (eg: customer experience manifesto, retail vision)
  • Maintain a close eye on retail landscape and consumer trends to provide unbiased risks and opportunities for brand and the business overall, with an eye to “future proof” many years ahead
  • Communicate research findings and recommendations to marketing leadership and other senior executives
  • Work closely with Growth and Product Marketing teams on consumer insights including UX, segmentation, ad testing, marketing mix analyses and more
  • Help to establish best-in-class processes, frameworks, timelines and templates for maximum efficiency as it relates to consumer research and monthly reporting
  • Support ad-hoc data analysis, research and insights requests

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; focus in Business, Marketing or Quantitative Degree preferred
  • 5-8 years in an analytical supporting role; retail, consumer goods, marketing, or consulting industries with strong customer focus preferred
  • Self-motivated, hardworking, detail-oriented, and results-driven, with sound time-management and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent data analysis skills with a proven ability to connect the dots, generate insights and make actionable recommendations
  • Excited by the Rent the Runway brand and customer experience—and committed to the spirit and intent of the company’s core values
  • Strong work ethic, intellectual curiosity, passion about customer and brand, and commitment to continuous improvement
  • Deep sense of curiosity for the consumer and new insights to inform strategic recommendations
  • Experience with quantitative and qualitative methodologies highly desired; and a deep interest in retail innovation and brand marketing
  • Mastery of Excel and PowerPoint including the ability to build customized dashboards and engaging presentations. Familiarity with analytics tools like Tableau a plus
  • Ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization while building strong internal relationships and influence across departments
