Senior Product Manager – Display and Native Ad Technology

Location: New York, NY

Bankrate.com is seeking an innovative and experienced Senior Product Manager with a specialty in advertising technology. Our product organization is growing and this is a rewarding career opportunity to lead, define and develop our display, programmatic, and native ad products. Successful candidates have experience with DFP or another leading ad server, a strong understanding of the display ad ecosystem, and can identify/prioritize areas of opportunity. S/he will work closely with our development leads and cross-functional teams across the company, including ad operations, data science, editorial, SEO, email, business development and performance marketing. 

Job Description and Duties

  • Plan and launch ad products that help Bankrate generate revenue, while balancing impacts on core user experience
  • Develop industry leading narratives and thought leadership in key solution areas of programmatic, native, viewability, header-bidding, and mobile.
  • Core functions will include defining or translating product needs, establishing a roadmap aligned with business and technology objectives, and then working with involved engineering and project teams to execute, deliver, and optimize.
  • Manage a long-term roadmap for ad revenue-related products and site-wide improvements while considering feature, resource, and timeline tradeoffs
  • Communicate strategy effectively to diverse audience including executive management, internal and external business partners.
  • Be an internal expert resource regarding the competitive landscape and specific competitors
  • Continuously update job knowledge through educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations

Requirements

  • 4+ years as a product manager, online products/services/media preferred
  • BS degree, preferably in a technical field (i.e. computer science or engineering or equivalent) but not required
  • Previous experience implementing and testing ad technology systems for an online publisher
  • Experience in DFP, Header-Bidding, Wordpress and Optimizely (or any other A/B testing vendor) a plus
  • A strong design and usability sense driven by the ability to step into a user's shoes and advocate for them
  • Outstanding intellect, drive and interpersonal skills and the drive to challenge the status quo
  • Proven ability to guide cross-functional teams through influence versus direct management
  • Ability to make logical feature versus time-to-market trade-offs; experience using data and metrics to back up assumptions and assertions of business value
  • Proven proactive approach to product management, with strong follow-through, resourcefulness, attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Technical fluency; comfort understanding and discussing architectural concepts, schedule tradeoffs and new opportunities with technical team members
  • Experience working on Agile enabled teams
  • Regular travel to our Palm Beach Gardens, FL office, approximately 3-5 days per month.
