Testing at scale matters. When it comes to our video platform, scale means ingesting tens of thousands of hours of video a day, and serving thousands of videos every second. 

JW Player is looking for an Automation Engineer to join our rapidly growing team in our New York City headquarters. The right candidate will relish the opportunity to build a continuous delivery organization from the ground up. This means building the infrastructure, processes, monitoring, testing, pipelines, and all other tooling you feel is necessary to ship code frequently of the highest possible caliber.

As a member of the Media Engineering Team, you will:

• Be the go-to expert for all things regarding automation in that team
• Own the testing architecture and define patterns for the team to write their own tests
• Take an active role in increasing coverage of automated tests
• Build load and stress testing frameworks into our deployment process
• Work with DevOps and Engineering team to create a fully automated continuous deployment pipeline
• Contribute to our infrastructure and application monitoring systems to ensure end-to-end system health
• Work directly with Product Managers and Engineers to iterate on testing tools, both open-source and proprietary
• Work as part of a team in a fast paced, agile environment

You have the skills to be successful in this role if you have:

• 5+ years of software development and automation experience
• Bachelor's in Science in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field; or experience equivalent
• Proven automation experience, particularly in automating test and continuous integration pipelines and experience successfully researching and implementing a new testing/automation tools and processes
• Held a developer role in the past and have experience with Python or another dynamic programming language (Ruby, JavaScript, PHP)
• Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructures like AWS or Google Cloud Platform
• Contributed to existing open-source projects as well as your own
• Proven load/stress/performance testing experience
• Experience using open source tools like Git and Jenkins
• Strong Unix/Linux skills with administration experience and comfortable with SQL skills
• Ability to learn new technologies, tools, and processes quickly

It is a plus if you have:

• Experience with configuration management and provisioning servers, SaltStack and Consul
• Knowledge of test-driven development (TDD), and/or behavior-driven development (BDD)
• Knowledge of video encoding, ad networks, content management platforms, and/or streaming protocols
• Experience with web video (HTML5 and/or Flash)
• Experience with Docker and/or Linux Containers
