The Data Team at JW Player builds pipelines to process all of this data and analytics products that provide valuable information. We're looking for a summer intern who will build a ground-breaking analytics feature to help our publishers understand viewer behavior and retention.

In this role you will:

• Directly contribute to the development of the analytics and data science systems that power the world's most popular open source video player
• Design a database schema for efficiently querying for viewer behavior patterns
• Write SQL queries for viewer behavior metrics
• Create interesting visualizations of the analytics

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a degree in computer science or another technical discipline with a focus on computer programming.
• Strong grasp of relational databases and SQL
• Motivated, self-starter who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment

Technologies

• SQL
• Kafka and Storm for real-time data processing
• Hadoop/Map Reduce for Data pipeline processing
• MongoDB, and other noSQL and SQL based technologies

Bonus

• Classwork or experience with the large data sets, machine learning, NLP, distributed computing, AI, cloud computing would be beneficial.
• Javascript and d3.js experience
